..(cont.)…just wondering your thoughts on this…since I buy a lot of them on Ebay and all in NGC MS69…Obviously NGC can’t do an acid test, but how do u think they test to make sure they are real withought damaging the coin?….I have never tried any tests on my Panda’s but am curious now, would holding a magnet up to the NGC case work?

Hi Epic! Really love all your vids.I too am trying to get a run of 1 silver panda for each year 1983-2013 1 0z..I am trying to get them all in NGC MS69.I know I am paying a bit more to get the certified ones but I am leary of all the fakes.I have heard of fake NGC holders and also some fake panda’s actually slipping by some of the graders at PCGS or NGC…but I still think the chances are way less to get the certified ones.I buy most of them off Ebay and so far don’t believe I have any fakes..

The magnet never lies..As I said in my last video when I mentioned you Epic. It takes real balls to admit that at times we make mistakes and sometimes get caught out with fakes. Thanks for showing us this vid. It makes me so much more wary of those Panda’s…..Cheers

Scary how good they’re getting at fakes. Out of curiosity, did your Pandas also pass the ‘ping’ test?

Selling fake coins at a coin show… that’s just great .. I wonder how many people he got that day. That panda looks like Winnie the pooh LOL At least you kind of know what to look for in a real one. Someone tried selling me a few fake Silver Eagles a few months back. I said you got 2 minutes to leave before I call the cops for reproducing fake US coins. He knew ohh he knew they were fake, before I turned around he was gone ! lol Bastered !

Great info on what to look out for. Glad you got your money back. You might want to try to find a really small earth magnet to keep in you wallet and have on you at all times for unexpected of silver shopping trips. And as I type this out, I’m realizing that the magnet may mess with the magenetic strip on your credit cards; but I haven’t had that problem so far.

When I first got into this hobby I researched excessively for months about how to spot fake silver coins, on different websites, ect., and Magnet testing is pretty much a last option anymore as most modern ‘Chinese’ forgeries are getting better and harder to detect. Most are now made with non-magnetic alloys. So the good old magnet test isn’t a good way of determining fake coins like it once was. You lucked out by getting fakes that were magnetic.

My thoughts exactly. The only analogy I could think of is like if you get silver from a show it’s like banging a hooker- you don’t know what she got, but from Apmex it’s tested like a pornstar does. LCS should earn your business by doing the same like Apmex. eBay is bareback donkey show when it comes to silver other than junk. I don’t go to these shows ever- you’re not going to haggle down from pros esp with these insane premium. I’m taking a break, build up dry powder for summer dip in case.
