2013 110th Anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising Silver Coin

On July 29, 2013, the Bulgarian National Bank released a new silver commemorative coin to mark the 110th anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising, which was an organized revolt against the Ottoman Empire, prepared and carried out in August 1903 by the Secret Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization.

The obverse style of the coin consists of a fragment from the Kostur insurgents’ flag, depicting a wreath and two female figures with a flag and a lion crouched at their feet. The inscription reads ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (Bulgarian National Bank), the denomination ’10 ЛЕВА’ (ten Leva), and the date ‘2013’. The logo  of the Bulgarian National Bank appears at the base.

Depicted on the reverse is a bell symbolizing national awakening, with the year ‘1903’ integrated. The inscription around the outer circumference reads ‘110 ГОДИНИ ОТ ИЛИНДЕНСКО-ПРЕОБРАЖЕНСКОТО ВЪСТАНИЕ’ (110th Anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising).

The designs for the coin had been created by Ivan Todorov, Todor Todorov, and Georgi Todorov.

Every single coin is struck in 92.five% silver with a weight of 23.33 grams and diameter of 38.61 mm. The mintage is limited to 3,000 pieces. The coins may possibly be bought at Bulgarian National Bank cash desks for BGN 66 which includes VAT.
