the mirror finish you are referring to is often called proof finish. search for proof eagles to see the mirror finish version of eagles

Good question 🙂 It is design, and finish of coin.
The Koala coin parts have a highly polished mirror finish, and the other parts of the design have a matt finish, giving a higher level of contrast between the two.
The BU Eagles I believe are struck to a normal circulation grade of finish.

I love perth mint coins they always have an exquisite finish, i’ve got one of these on the way but I dont get why his arm is all sticking out makes it look a bit spaz

Na…yuck! The reverse of the 2010, 09,08…….is very plain, the new designs are great. Do a google images to see the difference:) (Just joking) the other Koalas are nice but please check the design because they really are different when comparing the 2011 and 2012 coins.

Thanks for making a brilliant video. “I’m a subscriber”

Just a point to note, the 2011 and 2012 coins have a new design which is completely different to the previous coin issues.

If you ever get the opportunity, I think you could make a brilliant video of the 2011 or 2012 1oz Platinum Platypus.
Perth doesn’t say much about the Platinum bullion coins, they aren’t even on their bullion or collector web sites, but they truly are magnificent coins.

    Once again, thanks for sharing

Fist I have to get one 🙂 This 2012 is my first and only Koala in my collection. So far I like this one, but I will let you know what I think when I get the 2011. Thank you for comment.

    Good point ! Thank you

I received this koala last week, and I was surprised not disappointed.
I realized also that as a bullion this coin is somewhat young ( six years of strike 2007-2012). I will try to get them all.

  14. Silvercoinsshow says:

This 2012 Koala is actually my first koala. Everybody is saying how ugly this 2012 design is, but I like. I will go for 2007,2008,2009, 2010 and 2011. I want them all. Thank you for comment.

I was going to buy the Ltd Edition Berlin bear Privy mark 2012 koalas, however right at the last minute I changed my mind and bought the 2012 Lunar dragon with Lion Privy mark. i only found at afterwards that there were 200,000 of them minted as oppose to 50,000 ltd Edition koalas. DOH!!!
